OK
Thats cool, Im OK your OK.
Its a tough question to answer because the answer is so generic.
Then on to the real questions, what is Blind Ambition for those who dont know?
Alright, the band got together and had our first practice in March 1998. We have stuck with a raw sound, not incorporating too many effects. We just wrote and played straight ahead rock and roll. It's music for having fun and releasing energy. Lyrically the messages have not too intense. Lyrics are very important for me but I dont push a message. Most of the songs are about emotions and the strife of day to day life. Its an outlet for expression and almost a therapy of sorts. If I was not able to play music in Blind Ambition my emotions would just get so bottled up. So its a way to vent, for me anyways.
What is the best part of being in a band?
Playing shows, meeting new people and having fun. You just need to go out and have fun, if your attitude about a show is negative then it will suck but if its positive you build something and I feel the crowd can tell. One of the best moments is when we play "Mother Mary" at a show and everyone gets into it and sings along. That is a rush. Its a very positive fun thing.
What is the worse part of being in a band?
Finding members with the same amount of dedication and passion. Up until now Blind Ambition has went through eight different members and they still just come and go. It's frusterating.
Do you feel that is the biggest thing holding you back at this point?
Yes, Definately! Lack of passion and dedication from others. Its not that we are a great band but we are solid enough to give it a run. I mean we still play in a garages and probably will always jam in the basement and stuff. It would be great to play music and not have to work a job that you dont really like at all. I would just like to have a dedicated cult following fan base. Meet people, hang out and enjoy music together.
Are there any Bands that you would like to tour with?
hmmm...thats a tough question. Most of the bands I'd wanted to tour with are broken up or had members die. Far, So I guess just Jonah of onelinedrawing is the closest i would get there (I know I would really enjoy touring with him though), Local H would be great. Silverchair would be cool but they are in a new league sort of, Im still a big fan of what they do but any band that plays with them now would be laughed at or just not be respected. We could comfortably tour with Weezer i think or going overseas and touring with the Guano Apes would be nice.
How do you feel about bands that change styles once famous, like Silverchair?
I dont think its a bad thing. If I could I would. I would love string and piano on some of my songs it would really add a new dimension and create a full and new sound. Then again, sometimes just an acoustic guitar will do.
What are your goals for Blind Ambition?
Well, Blind Ambition has always been my baby. I may play in other bands but this is something I started and want to finish. I just need to find two other members that will totally commit. I really enjoy this more than anything else. As far as music and sound, I dont want to ever make the same album twice, thats why things such as piano would be nice to make the songs different. Blind Ambitions future is really up to me, I could just drop it like sheet music and it would be done cause the dedication is not there from anyone else. There are fans that know the music well enough to fill in but i dont think it would last. Im not a great singer or anything but it can be fun but sometimes I feel defeated.
How do you feel about Christianity or that this interview is for a Christian based zine?
Im sort of keeping my options open. We play alot of shows in churches and its interesting. Ive never really wrote songs about beliefs. We cover "Mother Mary" by the band Far and that song is about how we turn regular people into icons but I mean Mary was definately some one to look up to. We have a song called "End" and there is one line that always seems to jump out of the song when we play in a church. The Lyric is, "but the good book says love people that you hate." Our message is not really negative or positive toward religion. We have played with Christian bands and I open my arms to them. I think people need to be good, kind, giving and enjoy each other. Everyone has views, just dont judge others.
If you could let the world hear one song give one message to the world what would it be?
I would have to say "Sadder Day", Musically it's melodic and full of energy and the lyrics are about how I view life. So even if I could just hand them the lyrics for the song. I have a hard time accepting that people lie. I just wish people would accept and realize we are all on the same page and they wont (or shouldn't) get looked down on for not having a super exciting story to tell all the time. I think many can relate to the lyrics of "Sadder Day".

Play music because you love it, not for girls/guy or money or popularity. Just be honest and real.
