(December 30th 2003)
The show on Saturday was great, Alex, Daryl and Mark ran through a solid set of songs that went back to 1998 right up til the summer of 2003 and played the usual Far cover and did a Local H cover as well...The crowd was great and everything went fairly smooth...I would do it again in a heartbeat...Thanks to everyone who came out, hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. The setlist is in the Shows section and there were lots of pictures taken and I have them so I will put them up very soon.
(December 23rd 2003)
As another year winds down we have 1 more show for you (see below) and as I have done for the past 4 years, I am releasing a CD (the 1st year it was a cassette) of songs that I have recorded through out the year that I never did anything with. The CD will cost anywhere from $2-$5, it's just whatever you have or want to pay. I am only going to print up 20 copies so it's a first come, first serve basis, feel free to burn copies for people. It's called "Ends/Odds" and it is under the title "Defeated". A name I used last year and for a few selected (mainly) solo prefomances through out the year. It contains 13 songs that will probably never be played again.

And, I added 2 colour picture from the London show on July 5th, 1 of Alex and 1 of Alex and Daryl. The other picture is from the acoustic set Alex and Mark played at the CD release party on June 28th.

(December 19th 2003)
Ok, it's confirmed..We, the summer line up of Blind Ambition (Daryl, Alex and Mark) will be playing at show on Saturday December 27th at the Tweed Playhouse...We are playing with Monroe, Brooke, Hollow Earth and Eliote...It's $5 at the door, hop to see you all there...Here is a flier, feel free to send it around to your friends

(December 4th 2003)
Well, it's almost that time again...that is, where I dont have any money to buy you anything so what i'm going to do is finish up some recordings and collect all the recordings I have done since last christmas that never made it further than the 8-track and compile them into a CD and wrap it up for you...I hope I didn't ruin the surprise...but in order to get one you have to request one, unless your one of those unfortunate people that I just feel the need to give one too...but if you don't ask for one, you probably won't get one...I'll try to make a list of all the song I THINK will be on it.
(this order means nothing)
1. Fade
2. In Time
3. Half
4. Before You Go
5. Drown In Lies (live)
6. Dear: World
7. Falling Out Of My Life (acoustic)
8. Bitter
I think 8 might be enough, I don't want to bore you...but I just remembered 3 more songs that are going on it, should I post them now or later??? oh well, have you noticed that when naming songs, I choose to only use the first half of the alphabet for the first letter in the name...hmmm, interesting..or not...
(November 6th 2003)
We are playing a show tonight at the Loyalist College Sharktank Pub, we go on at 11:00pm. We have a 20 minute set so we will probably only play 4 songs. Also, I posted the artical the went to press from the interview that I did on October 27th, it's in the members section under "press". And finally, the page is going to be seperating soon, it's going to be this page and a new page...this page is going to get pretty quiet and my solo stuff will probably be the only thing making the updates and the new one will be with all the new shows, new members, new songs...etc...(any web designers out there with some idea, please sent them my way...) Take care...
(October 27th 2003)
Hey, I just did an interview this morning with the Loyalist Pioneer, the main focus of the story at this point is on how there is a lack of venues for local bands to play and what local musicians could or need to do in order to get shows happening again...
I have still been recording and mixing down some songs, so far we have, "Half", "In Time", "Fade" and "Before You Go".
Also, we have been practicing a bit more lately and we might be playing a very short set on a mystery date in November...Nothing is confirmed just yet.
(October 10th 2003)
Hello, it's been a while...there have been some new songs being written and some are being recorded. There hasn't been much playing and practicing together happening right now but that should change pretty soon...Anyways, there are 2 new songs recorded, "In Time", that has been on the main page for a few weeks and has now been moved to the "Songs and Lyrics" section with the addition of "Fade". "Fade" is a song that has been floating around for the longest time but never found it's way to a finished recording. Now it has. It's not the best but it's something.
(September 17th 2003)
If you go to the "Songs and Lyrics" section and go to any song that is listed there, you can now see the date of the first and last time time we ever played that specific song.
(September 10th 2003)
We have VHS copies of the show on the 30th as well as a lot of other footage from past shows, if anyone would like to get a VHS copy of this, just e-mail Mark at: mark@blindambition.zzn.com. As a side note to the show, it actually cuts about 1 minute and 30 seconds before we finish "End", maybe as a sign that our run as a band was cut just a bit short as well and that there is still time to finish what started.
(September 8th 2003)
Hey, as I said, you will be seeing updates on the page and here is the first one, I added a few new pictures from the August 3rd show and I also gave credit to all the people who have submitted live pictures to us, if you see some of yours on the page without credit just let me know and I will give you the credit you deserve. Also, look for a new CD to be released around Christmas.
(September 1st 2003)
Well, we did it...We played our 100th and last show and have no plans to do any others in the near future. I would keep it going if i could but it's to draining emotionally and physically. I would really truely like to thanks everyone who has supported us and enjoyed what we have done over the past 5 years and there was a very warm appreciation for that and i really couldn't ask for anything more from any of you...Just so you know, this is not good-bye forever were done...It's simply a see ya later...The page will always be here and there will be updates and hopefully in the future there will maybe even be a new CD...Only time will tell...but I do hope that after life gets better, Blind Ambition will return, maybe as a special occasion thing, maybe full time. But until then, thank you all again for all your kind words in the Guest Book and in e-mails and in person...Take care and we will see you around sooner or later.

-Mark LaJoie

(August 22nd 2003)
And now...my take on the bands

Blind Ambition, it has been over 5 years now and it just feel like im beating a dead horse...im the only original member and it just has gotten to frusterating to teach people the different songs on the different instruments. I think we made our mark and did all we can do...I dont think we could really do anymore than we already have. Alex is moving to Ottawa, and Daryl is going back to Hamilton and I dont think there are members that can match up to them in the way they fit in and understood the style of music I was writing and wanted to play. I guess I just dont have the passion anymore, and without that, there is no point cause your just wasting your time...

OK, the show is in Madoc on the 30th, go to the shows section for the detail.

(August 21st 2003)
Well, here we have another update...We have 2 final shows...This first one is Friday August 22nd, it will be out last full band, electric set...The last set will be on August 30th and it will be an all acoustic set with Alex, Mark and hopefully Mark Meeks will be able to join us for a few songs. I guess we will go with that for now and see what comes of it...
(August 12th 2003)
Here is somewhat important news...Blind Ambition is not going to be playing anymore shows for a long while, if ever again...We might play one more show but maybe not...So ya, If you want to see us again let us know and we will try to do one more show for you but other than that were done...I dont know what the future holds..."Can't think about tomorrow, Can't change yesterday" - Sadder Day

This kinda sums up how i'm feeling.

Dear Friends,

Thank you all for your posts on the board. I am happy that there are so many wonderful people who like Eye Adrift.

The board is a free for all. Remember what Col. Kurtz said about judgment? There is much judging, many stones cast from the safety of anonymity.

Are some posts anonymous? Yes and no. Being on the inside gives me a perspective gained from real information. The anonymous put forth speculation gleaned from who knows where? Perched behind the veil of the internet, they enjoy the freedom to construct theories about real people whom they know little about. These real people, Curt, Bud and myself (Krist) have put our faces on the main page of this site. Those are our eyes gazing at you on top of this page. You know our names. We created music and chose to share it with you all. We don’t need anonymity because we know who we are.

Watching what people do with the freedom of anonymity and how they abuse it, it's plain to see that they ultimatly reveal themselves. Isn't freedom wonderful!!!! I’m glad that people have a forum to express themselves, free of the sieve of a moderator.

So what’s up with Eyes Adrift? Pretty much nothing.

We came together in 2002 as three musicians who like to play. We came together as three people who shared common life experiences.

While Eyes Adrift is an artistic success, the commercial side is anything but successful.

Our First tour in the spring of 2002 was great. We played great shows, met great people and had great fun. We drew people just on our past histories. We had no product (except for silly T-shirts.)

After the release of the album the dynamic changed. Being on an independent label created many challenges for us. We were working outside of a very insular system. While our collective pasts did give us an advantage, it wasn’t enough to overcome the fact that there was very little money for promotion. We chose to put our money into creature comforts like a first class tour bus.

Turnout to our shows would range wildly, one night packed, the next sparse. Still , every night, we met with all of the people who wanted to say hi. I must have literally met a thousand people – you know who you are.

The turnout issue transformed into a financial one. Our tour was in the red. All indications were that Europe would be the same. It was that reality which ultimately kept us from going over there. I am still deeply disappointed, especially when I think of all of the wonderful people I met on the two US tours. I am disappointed that I will not make new friends in Europe—at least not soon.

I recall too many stories of people simply not being able to find the CD in stores. I know of many who just downloaded. Mixed reviews didn’t help the fact that we really didn’t sell many CD’s. I can’t honestly tell you how many we’ve sold but I can’t imagine it’s over 20,000 units.

A flop? No way!!! At this rate we’ll go gold in about a hundred years. Too long you say but isn’t music eternal? I’m in no rush.

The overwhelming majority of people don’t even know that there is an Eyes Adrift. People walk up to me and ask me about Sweet 69 or Sweet 76 or whatever tortured recollection of that musical triumph they can muster. I’ve found that people do get turned on to Eyes Adrift and that’s fulfilling.

Another fact that works against us is that we all live so far apart from each other. We are all connected to our respective homes and leaving is difficult.

I got to play with Curt and Bud. We made an awesome record. Bud is a great drummer and Curt a master songwriter and guitarist. In my life I’ve been extremely fortunate to have worked with some great talent. Yes friends I am very content. I am very honored. I’ve been to the mountain and let me tell you, the view is glorious. I want to thank all of the great players who shared their talent with me and I will forever hold these experiences near and dear to my heart.

What next? As far as the music industry goes, I quit. I can’t deal. I can’t read the magazines, listen to the radio or watch music television without feeling like I’ve just come in from outer space. I just don’t get it and I probably never did. My lot in life is that every band I’ve ever been in just falls apart. That hurts but I’ve got a thick hide from years of conditioning. Now please take note that I haven’t quit music, I’ve just quit the business. (I can’t complain about the business side of Nirvana. I’m not crying a river by any means.) I want to play more with Curt and Bud, they’re too good for me not to plug in my bass thus plugging into the cosmo-stream of transcendental rocking good times that those two charge me with.

I’m relatively young (38) and I want to follow my compulsions. I have big plans for 2004. Next year will be a pivotal year politically for every one of us in the USA and for myself, even more so. I’ve come off of nine years of political success and see some real opportunities to make change. You’ll all hear about my plans soon enough. If you’ve been following my politics, you know that I will continue to work for inclusion, fairness and freedom.

Friends, thank you all again. Please continue to speak freely on the Eyes Adrift board. Rant, rage and reveal. Pour out your heart or piss all over – freedom gives you the option!!! Freedom is a huge responsibility so please remember to respect it.

Or maybe this is how i'm feeling

To Boddah
Speaking from the tongue of an experienced simpleton who obviously would rather be an emasculated, infantile complain-ee. This note should be pretty easy to understand. All the warnings from the punk rock 101 courses over the years, since my first introduction to the, shall we say, ethics involved with independence and the embracement of your community has proven to be very true. I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guity beyond words about these things. For example when we're back stage and the lights go out and the manic roar of the crowds begins., it doesn't affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love, relish in the the love and adoration from the crowd which is something I totally admire and envy. The fact is, I can't fool you, any one of you. It simply isn't fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100% fun. Sometimes I feel as if I should have a punch-in time clock before I walk out on stage. I've tried everything within my power to appreciate it (and I do,God, believe me I do, but it's not enough). I appreciate the fact that I and we have affected and entertained a lot of people. It must be one of those narcissists who only appreciate things when they're gone. I'm too sensitive. I need to be slightly numb in order to regain the enthusiasms I once had as a child.
On our last 3 tours, I've had a much better appreciation for all the people I've known personally, and as fans of our music, but I still can't get over the frustration, the guilt and empathy I have for everyone. There's good in all of us and I think I simply love people too much, so much that it makes me feel too fucking sad. The sad little, sensitive, unappreciative, Pisces, Jesus man. Why don't you just enjoy it? I don't know!
I have a goddess of a wife who sweats ambition and empathy and a daughter who reminds me too much of what i used to be, full of love and joy, kissing every person she meets because everyone is good and will do her no harm. And that terrifies me to the point to where I can barely function. I can't stand the thought of Frances becoming the miserable, self-destructive, death rocker that I've become.
I have it good, very good, and I'm grateful, but since the age of seven, I've become hateful towards all humans in general. Only because it seems so easy for people to get along that have empathy. Only because I love and feel sorry for people too much I guess.
Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years. I'm too much of an erratic, moody baby! I don't have the passion anymore, and so remember, it's better to burn out than to fade away.
Peace, love, empathy.
Kurt Cobain

(August 4th 2003)
The show last night was a lot of fun, and the after show party was just as fun. I put up the set list and you will notice some song that you might not recognize (depends on how long you have been following us for)...Speaking of "how long", Mark played his 99th show with Blind Ambition last night...He would like to make #100 a memorable one...what should we do for it???
(August 1st 2003)

I am going to be rotating the songs on the mp3.com page every 2 weeks or so, there are 13 songs to rotate through, some old and some new...so keep checking there to get some recorded songs you might not have...also more pictures from newer shows will be up soon, but until then, take care of yourself...
(July 4th 2003)
Hey, it's been 1 year since I put the counter on the page that only gives 1 count per IP address and it shows that 5086 IP addresses have visited the page in a year...We are no more famous this year than we were last year but thats a pretty good number...Thanks to everyone for stopping by and we will be seeing you later...
(July 1st 2003)

Thanks to everyone who made it out on Saturday
(June 25th 2003)
Hello, we played another show, you can read a little about it in she shows section (of all places, who would have thought?), we have a few more shows coming up, one in Blessington and one in London...We raised over $50 on Saturday for the Drew McCredie Fund, thanks to anyone who donated and the countdown is on...what would people like to see from Blind Ambiton, let us know now before it's to late...and remember to hold close the people that are important to you.

(June 6th 2003)
Hey, If any of you are interested in having a new e-mail that is @blindambition.zzn.com you can...just go to www.blindambition.zzn.com and sign up with Blind Ambition mail...it's pretty easy but if you get stuck just let me know. Also, if the page is looking a bit messy it is because I am just trying to get all the information for the new album up...the pages that are going to be effected the most are the "songs and lyrics" and the "albums" link on that page is being updated as well.
(June 2nd 2003)
Hey, it's to bad the weekend had to end...2 fun shows and great company, does it get any better...*sigh*...so ya, the info on the 2 shows are done and the weekend is over...As for the cd, it is done, all the songs are recorded and mixed and the cover art is completed...as soon as the liner notes are done we will have them copied and the CD will be for sale...We are hoping to have a CD release party on June 14th or 28th...if you are interested in being there for it sign the guest book with your e-mail address or e-mail me and i'll give you more details...And the lyrics for "Fag" were somewhat added and i'm working on "I Swear".
(May 19th 2003)
The review from Friday's show is up, if you have your own feel free to pass it along and i'll post it...I have added a bunch more pictures from the show on March 1st and 3 pictures from the May 3rd show from last year...they were late coming but late is better than never...And we finished all but 2 bass tracks and all Alex's vocal tracks are now done, so were that much closer to having the new CD(s) finished.
(May 15th 2003)
Happy Birthday to Daren LaJoie....Ok, now I am really thinking about releasing two 6 or 7 song EP's and call one "Rock" and the other "Roll"...maybe not those names but i could put all heavy songs on one cd and on quieter songs on the other...what do you think??? (post thoughts on the guest book)
(May 14th 2003)
Hello, just letting you know the 2nd show on the 23rd is now confirmed...feel free to go to the "shows" section for more details...
(May 13th 2003)
There are new shows added. In May we now have shows on the 16th, 23rd (maybe 2 shows on this date), 30th and the 31st. We are almost done recording our new album, the songs "Sooner or Later", "I Swear" and "Fag" were all completed this weekend and "Face The Facts" and "Drag My Dream" just need bass tracks done. It looks like there will be 12 or 13 songs on the new CD, unless you would like it released as two 6 track cd's...leave your thoughts about this on the guest book. I am currently working on updating the information on the "songs and lyrics" page.
(May 5th 2003)
Just a few quick notes...We have a few shows this month, we played on the 3rd with Daryl back on drums and it went really well and we played Go Away and Take It, 2 new songs that have never been played live as a band before. We have 2 more shows so far but were looking to do more. We are also hoping to have a new CD ready to release in a month with about 10 songs on it so stay tuned for more up date...until then, take care.
(April 23rd 2003)
Late breaking news...Due to "SARS" we are not allowed over the boarder.
or as Mark Meeks (of Thin And Fading) put it in to perspective

"...stupid georgia shows and their getting cancelled.
...stupid work and me going to it.
...stupid banana muffins already in my stomach so that i don't get to eat them anymore.
...stupid new stephen malkmus album still not in yet.
...stupid Ozzy pepsi twist commercial.
...bah."

So remember, what can go wrong, will go wrong..and if it can get any worse, it will.

P.S. We played a show on Easter Sunday

(April 14th 2003)
Just did a bit of editing to the Shows section and everything that is up now is confirmed. and we are going to play in the States in less than 2 weeks.
(April 11th 2003)
Here we go, there is a show shaping up for the easter weekend and we have 2 show in the States confirmed now...one is Friday April 25th and the second is Saturday April 26th. I will give you more details as they arrive. Thin and Fading will be going to the States and there is a chance that Suckerpunch will be joining us as well since The Vinyl Riot had to take a pass for personal reasons...
(April 8th 2003)
I have removed all the shows for April except the date in the state that are still not confirmed due to the world sucking or lack of interest...Mark didn't make it to the show on Friday at Foundations for several reasons but was not missed at all. Daryl (who played drums for the 12/31/02 show) will now be joining us for the rest of our shows...I feel that he will be with us til our descent in the late summer days of 2003.
(March 18th 2003)
Hey, I have put up the lyrics to the new songs and Drag My Dream has some altered lyrics the Off My Chest tab was almost ready but lost in a freak working accident and we have a few new shows confirmed and we will have buttons for sale very soon.
(March 13th 2003)
We have a show on the 29th in Tweed and on the 5th in Trenton is pending cause we might have a show somewhere else but it's not confirmed so either way, we will be paying on the 5th (maybe as a 2 piece though). Other than that, some demos have been done. New songs are called "take it", "always behind", "go away" and "i dont care".
(March 7th 2003)
Hey, I have put tabs up in the "songs and lyrics" section, right now there are tabs for Wrecking Ball, Mother Mary, Petty Layne and Sadder Day...I just did them from memory and i did not have a guitar in front of me so if they sound off just let me know and i'll double check them. Also thanks to Trevor for writing the letter to me that I used as the quote of the week.
(March 5th 2003)
The review of saturday's show is up as well as a few pictures from it. I know there will be a few more soon, March is going to be pretty quiet for the most part, we are going to practice like mad and hopefully get a new song or 2 ready for all the shows in April...But dont shy away from asking us to do anything, maybe an arena rock show and some acoustic sets...I dont know...throw out some suggestions.
(February 14th 2003)
I hope everyone is having a good valentines day. I just wanted to let you know that the songs on the mp3.com site were updated and re-arranged.
(February 10th 2003)
The review of the show on friday is up, we are going to be working on a new song this week and our next schedualed appearence is in Trenton on March 1st. Hope to see you there, we will have CD's($5), T-shirts($10), and sticker(any spare change is fine)...
(February 4th 2003)
It looks like our first show with Mark McGee is going to come a lot sooner than expected...We were put on the flier for the Rawk Show at the engineers hall this Friday February 7th but we were never asked if we could play...at first I said we would not be ready but Mark McGee told me otherwise, so we are going to play maybe an 8 song set...we will have a better idea after we practice on Wednesday.
Mark and Alex both have information in their members section now as well.
(January 31 2003)
I think we have it...Yes, Mark McGee seems to have grabbed the spot on the stool, Thanks to everyone who came out and dont give up hope, Mark is a great drummer and with the way members go through this band we might need someone else tomorrow...maybe and new singer/guitarist...*giggles*
In page news, the Members section and the Non-Live Pictures sections have been updated to...well...they are very up to date now...you'll see...
(January 28 2003)
Ok, We have some new pictures of Blind Ambition and The Vinyl Riot in the "Non Live", Band Pictures section. also, our miss kitty fan was added the fan pics and the interview from On Earth and a link to their site was put up under the "Members" section in "Press".
(January 15 2003)
I think the drummer search is almost over. before February 1st the desicion will be made and we will be practicing some old and some new songs for all the excitement in April. I have put up 7 upcoming shows that take us from Madoc to Trenton to Atlanta Georgia...
(January 13 2003)
On Friday January 10th, Mark did an interview with On Earth", a christain based fanzine. The interview is schedualed to be in the next issue. If you go to the fanzine's web site you can read up on a festival we will hopefully be playing on the weekend of May 30th and June 1st called Monkfest.
There is also talk about a tour in April that we hope to be doing with The Vinyl Roit which will take us to the United States...Georgia is the first target and then we are looking to move over to Chicago...Stay tuned for more details...
And I'm glad that drummers are actually contacting me, my best suggestion is to learn as many of the songs on the cd ("You Just Come And Go") and then we can get together and see how it goes...Thanks again.
(January 9 2003)
Ok, now for some shocking news...Blind Ambition is looking for a drummer, Cory has his head so far up his girlfriends ass he stopped breathing or something, but either way, he will not be returning to the stage. So if you or someone you know would like to play in Blind Ambition, please call 966-5480 and leave a message or e-mail melody10@nexicom.net...We have some shows pending but I dont want to confirm them before I have a confirmed drummer.
(January 7 2003)
New songs are being writen and pictures from the "back stage" area in Georgian College were added as well as 2 more pics in the Band Pictures section.
(January 1 2003)
It was a fun show last night. Thanks to everyone who came out, it was nice to see you all. I just wish I could have got there earlier... As some of you may have noticed we played 2 new songs last night, I have added the lyrics to "Falling Out Of My Life" to the Songs & Lyrics section and the review for the show is up. I hope you all enjoyed the great drumming by Daryl Corelli.
I'm going to try to do some renovating to the page this month so if some things look strange or out of place it's cause they probably are.
